HART
- Hoarding Art
|
||||||
|
One of State-of-the-Art's projects was to convert Marine
Drive in Mumbai, romantically referred to as the 'Queen's necklace', into
an open air art gallery for one week, with all the hoardings along the
road as commissioned artworks with a social theme. The vision was, on
one hand, to bring art to the common man - outside the hallowed precincts
of galleries and museums and on the other, to present the artist with
a broader canvas to present their vision. HART was perceived as a traveling
exhibition that would transform the main streets of the major metros in
India and abroad. As a sample of what we had in mind, Laxman Shrestha
and M.F. Husain made two hoardings, one with the help of hoarding artists
and another entirely on his own. These were displayed at two prominent
junctions of the city for two weeks.
