The House of MG is not just a hotel. It
is an umbrella organization that is taking
an initiative in creating a vibrant neighborhood
in the historic old city of Ahmedabad. It
hopes to achieve this by first identifying
and then adopting relevant traditions related
to food, clothing, architecture and the
crafts to its own contemporary aesthetic.
The House of MG also attempts to set a
benchmark in its responsibility towards
the environment through adoption of ‘earth
friendly’ practices in every area of
its operation.

Heritage awareness and revitalisation.
a. Mangaldas ni Haveli : One of the
finest examples of traditional wooden
architecture, a 150 year old building
in the historic old city of Ahmedabad
has been taken over by The House of
MG and is currently being restored.

Initiative
to Sustain neighborhood Crafts.
The House of MG will strive to sustain
the neighborhood crafts by having designers
interact with the craftsmen and make
contemporary products. The first three
week workshop with four UK based designers

of ‘Green’ practices in
the hotel.
a. Reuse of organic waste for generation
of biogas.
b. Use of CFL tubes in place of tungsten
filament bulbs.
c. Use of independent conditioning units
in all rooms to avoid electricity wastage.

House of MG’s growing family of
employees comprises of youth from different
religions from surrounding villages.
